A whole lot of "Last"s

So its about 6 and a half weeks before I leave on my next adventure! This is extremely exciting and I cant wait to be experiencing all kinds of new things-sadly on the flip side of that, lots of things here have to come to an end!

So today is my last day at my job that iv been at for the last 16 months! It hasint been the greatest bestest time, but now that its coming to an end I am quite sad that its over.  Its not like I hate coming here everyday, so it has been good, but I'm also happy that its coming to an end!

I also had to sell my beloved scooter yesterday :( The buyer picked her up last night-and for me, it was very sad!   It was the first vehicle (even though not a car) that I bought 100% by myself, and last night I had to watch her leave...but nonetheless...onto better things!!

Yes things are coming to an end in this chapter of my life, but chapters end so that new ones can start!  And I am very excited to start living the next one!!

On a different note, all my visa docs are signed, I completed them yesterday, so next week I will be going up to Cape Town for my interview!  Ross is also riding in a race, which is another reason we are going up. Its going to be a fun time!

until next week..

HappY ValenTINes Day ♥♥♥

I'm not sure why, but this never posted last week-but nonetheless, I'm going to post it now!

HappY ValenTINes Day ♥♥♥

Happy Valentines to all reading my blog! Today I hope you feel the love from everyone around you!

I am a BIG sucker for valentines day-I'm wearing pink and white, got some pink makeup on, wearing my heart earrings and feeling all jolly inside being the kindest I can be to everyone around me! So I hope you are having a lovely day to!

I started applying for my visa 2 days ago-which is a long and painful process, but nonetheless, every day is a step closer to it being done!

The orientation is usually always at a hotel in Stamford CT, but I heard that they have moved it to a hotel closer to NYC-which is great for me, because at least I will be going to something different and it wont ALL be the same! I also found out that there is a girl from the same city as me leaving on the same date-which I never had before either-not because I'm nervous to be by myself (which is completely wrong), but it will be fun to have some company!

Only 8 weeks and 3 days left!!!

SAN FRACISCO

.........and I have matched!!

I am on such a high and am SO happy with the family I am going to!  They live in San Fran, so I will be jetting across the country to California in April!

It is going to be completely different to last time-as I was on the East Coast and was always in Boston and NY, but this is a totally new adventure! Hopefully ill be in LA a couple times this time around! and ill get to see a completely new side of the country and experience completely new things!

So I Skyped the whole family last night and I got to meet 2 precious little girls. Was great to see the whole family together and get a feel for who they are.  We spoke for about 40mins about all sorts! The girls sang to me and were being playfully silly asking me what I like to do and then mom and dad were asking me all the more serious questions.  By the end of the conversation, both of us knew we wanted to match and so we DID!

Now I need to start getting life all sorted out! The next step is to organize my visa!

Here's a big shout out to San Francisco!!
Golden Gate Bridge and the night skyline on SF! <3

Emails, Skypes and Phone Calls

Its all becoming REAL!!

So the past 6 days host families have been getting hold of me, and we are chatting away! It is so exciting meeting everyone on that side of the world and researching all the towns that these families come from. Some families already told me they have matched with other aupairs, and some have set up our 2nd or 3rd chat!

I must say, I had a completely different view of the families that would be contacting me, just because I kept comparing to my old host family, but I'v realized that this is a completely different experience and adventure that I am going to, and I need to completely empty my mind of preconceptions!  I was convinced I wanted to be on the east coast-but it seems I have a very large chance of being on the west coast!

Some questions that I ask them that are important to me include:

Does the family consider their au pair a part of their family? (this is really important to me! I want to feel wanted, accepted and supported by both parents)

Do I have access to a car, and how far is public transport. (This makes a HUGE difference as it gives you a bit more independence and freedom during your time off.)

My Free Time, If I'm allowed friends over, If family can visit from home etc etc.

Its important to ask the family as much as you can, so that you know exactly who you are going to, and what they are like!

I'm sure I'm going to match soon-so watch this space!!
Exciting stuff!!

Excitement Begins

And so the excitement begins!  My application is with the Au pair head office waiting to be submitted online for all the families to view! Iv been checking my emails more than once an hour, just to check if it has been submitted yet....but all in good time!

Iv been waiting the whole week to see if its been verified yet, and not until this morning did i get an email from them saying that it's almost on its way-there were just a few changes that had to be made etc.

Now all the questions are popping in my head--what city will I be in, what's my family going to be like, my schedule, my new friends and and and.!!!

Join in my excitement and hopefulness of only good things to come :)

Until I'm officially online..
